Exposition

The story takes place in the jungle where a newborn Tarzan is found alone in a cabin by Kala, a mother gorilla. Suddenly a jaguar ambushes the cabin to cut Tarzan's story short. Kala with her motherly courage prevailed to save the baby Tarzan. Kerchak, husband and protector of the gorillas wasn't happy with Kala's request to keep the baby Tarzan but Kala insisted. Tarzan's fate had taken a turn. Tarzan now older approached the young gorilla, Terk, who wasn't accepting of Tarzan because of his different appearance. Tarzan quickly became eager to prove his worth to others. Terk jokingly proposed an impossible challenge to Tarzan to pluck a hair from an elephant's hairy tail. The presumptuous Tarzan suddenly jumped off the cliff to Terk's astonishment. This attempt caused a dangerous scene with the elephants, hurting Tarzan's already delicate reputation among the gorillas. But he accomplished the task and earned the respect of his new friend. The young Tarzan was fighting his demons to prove he belonged.

Rising action

A loud noise fired in the distance, a familiar sound to civilization people. Kerchak and the gorillas begin migrating away from the disturbance to avoid trouble. A curious Tarzan instead followed the sound. While doing so he found three beings that looked like himself and this was where he encountered the beautiful Jane. Jane had caught herself into deep trouble by a herd of monkeys. Tarzan rescued her in a scene that had him maneuvering through the jungle while carrying Jane. Upon finding refuge, Tarzan curiously explored Jane's body. He had never seen these body shapes before on anyone but himself. Jane wasn't comfortable with the jungle man in this moment but he had fallen for her. Jane requested to be taken back to her campsite and told her father and antagonist hunter Clayton of her unique experience. They didn't believe her but then out of nowhere Tarzan shows up. This was the start of a new routine for Tarzan of visiting the campsite regularly and during these visits she taught him english and about human civilization. Tarzan showed interest for learning and was ready to become a civilian himself. Jane and co were departing from the jungle but Tarzan tried convincing her to stay. Clayton offered Tarzan a proposal that would have Jane extend her visit. The proposal involved a personal meeting with the gorillas. An idea Tarzan had not been fond of but he finally accepted given his desperate circumstance. Tarzan had Terk distract Kerchak as a favor to progress the meeting with the gorillas. Jane was playful with the baby gorillas and while Clayton was seen deviously plotting. Once again, Jane and co were leaving the jungle and Tarzan was facing another major decision. Leave his family and go with Jane or stay back with his family. This led to Kala showing Tarzan where she had found him as a baby. After deep thought Tarzan had gained clarity. He came out of the cabin wearing his father's old attire announcing he'd be heading off with Jane.

Climax:

Jane and Tarzan arrived at the ship only to be conned by Clayton and the ship crew. Clayton's was going to kidnap the gorillas to earn money. On shore Kerk and Tantor (elephant friend) heard Tarzan's loud screams from the ship and they went to rescue their friend. Once rescued, Tarzan quickly entered the scene where Clayton and his crew were seen kidnapping the gorillas. Tarzan quickly foiled Clayton's plans but Clayton wasn't going down without a fight. He shot Kerchak and began firing at Tarzan. Their fight ensued in the trees where Tarzan had taken the shotgun and pointed it at Clayton. Clayton begged Tarzan to shoot, but Tarzan instead destroyed the weapon. The battled continued in the vines where Clayton carelessly swung his knife creating a contraption for his hanging.

Falling action

Kerchak was dying from the wound. Tarzan approached him to recieve his last words. In these words Kerchak admitted to Tarzan what he had been longing to hear. That he was one of them. Kerchak requested Tarzan to lead the gorillas from that moment onwards. Tarzan without words nor time to refute Kerchak's term accepted his fate. Tarzan felt dismayed after his victory.

Resolution

Jane and Tarzan exchange goodbyes. Then while heading to the ship, Jane's father advised her to stay back with her lover and she quickly jumped into the water to be with Tarzan. She didn't have to think twice. The film ended with Jane learning the ways of the jungle from her new mate.

Final thoughts

The film is refreshing for the heart and soul and is a Disney classic. The audience sees Tarzan defeat his struggles to earn the respect of his peers and the love of a foreign woman. If your looking for a feel good movie to pass the time then Tarzan, is for you.
